Dhammaduta Buddhist University (DBU)

about 01The university was founded on 5 Jan 2015 by Sayadaw Ashin Pannyissara who was born on 23rd January 1964 at Nyaung Waing Ward of Thaton in Mon State, Myanmar. His parents are U Kyaw Hlaing and Daw Myint Kyi. He is the eldest of the five offspring. After answering the Matriculation Exam, he became a novice with the blessing of Venerable Bhaddanta Paññājota who was his Preceptor.
He studied Buddhism at Dhammaduta Tawya in Belin Township of Mon State where he passed the Pahtamagyi level. Not only was he engaged in learning but also underwent the practice. For higher Buddhist Studies, he went to Mandalay and Sagaing. Later, he proceeded to Sri Lanka and India. He attained a B.A (1987) from Mandalay University. And, he was conferred Sāsanadhaja dhammācariya (1990), Sāsanajotipāladhammācariya (1990) and Sāsanahitagaṇavācakadhammā cariya (2000). He also attained the M.A (1996) from Buddhist and Pali University, Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Ph.D. Degree (2006) from Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Maharashtra State, India. Furthermore, he was conferred the Mahāganthavācakapandita (2006), Bahujanahitadhara (2010) and Aggamahāganthavācakapandita (2018) from Government.
After the passing away of Venerable Dhammaduta Sayadawgyi, he resided at Dhammaduta Tawya Monastery undertaking Sāsana duties in the capacity of a lecturer, writer, patron and meditation instructor. He gave Dhamma Talk at Dhammaduta Tawya, and many places in States and Divisions where he was invited to give Dhamma Lectures and conduct meditation courses.
He has founded the Dhammaduta Meditation Centre at 10th mile, near Hanthawaddy Golf Course, Dhammaduta Buddhist University, 10th mile, Bago, Dhammaduta Yeikthar in Kyike-hto, Mon State, Dhammaduta Buddhist University (Branch) and Meditation Centre, East Garden, Sanchaung, Yangon, Dhammanandi Buddhist College (Dhammaduta Buddhist University, Mawlamyine Branch), Mon State, and Dhammaduta Vihara 9180 Hunt Rd, Corona, CA 92883, United State of America. Moreover, he is engaged in constructing religious buildings where the Yogis and Students within the country and from abroad can peacefully perform religious deeds. Over three hundred thousands of Yogis (meditators) already have practiced the Dhammānupassana Meditation. Over 40 Dhamma Books (Burmese), 5 English Books and Monthly Dhammaduta Magazine (Burmese Edition) also have published for the readers.
As being Chief Executive Sayadaw of Dhammaduta Tawya Meditation Centre, Rector of Dhammaduta Buddhist University, External Supervisor of International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University, Yangon, and High Priest of Dhammaduta Vihara in Corona, United State of America. Sayadaw is taking responsibility of Sāsana duties with writing, Lecturing, Giving Sermon and Preaching.
